GARY D IS RESIDENT DJ WITH LOVELIFE @ THE BANK, PORT TALBOT AND DJ'S ON VARIOUS DATES AT ESCAPE SWANSEA WHERE HE PLAYS UPFRONT UK GARAGE AND BASSLINE HOUSE Gary began his DJ career in 1994 when he bought his first set of decks and vinyl after being persuaded by his best friend Karl Williams (All Funk'd Up) and through watching people like Loftgroover,Clarkee,Brisk and Stu Allen at Club Kinetic in Stoke. He and Karl then moved to Northern Ireland and within a year they were the playing Hardcore/Gabba around various clubs in the province.This continued through 95 were they held down a residency at Bumbles in Coleraine. In 1996 Gary relocated to London and was soon finding himself drawn to the Drum and Bass scene,so after a change of musical style it wasn't long before he was playing Drum and Bass in some smaller clubs in the Soho district.While Karl edged toward house music.This also led to Gary playing at Marthas in Swansea on line ups with DJ Hype and LTJ Bukem. But the end of 96 was when Gary first found his love for the music he is renowned for..UK Garage. After London he moved back to South Wales and teamed up with Wayne Ire to start a successful night in his hometown of Port Talbot. The night was called "UNDERGROUND" and was based in a Port Talbot beachfront club.It was there that Gary got his first break into the UKG scene. As well as playing alongside fellow residents Wayne Ire and Chris Vatary,the club also hosted talent such as Danny Foster and V2 Crew. Alongside "UNDERGROUND",Gary also secured a weekly residency at the hugely popular "Twighlight Zone" @ Jubblys,which was an after club bar hosting DJ talent such as V2 crew, Scott Garcia and the 500 Records team. Then Gary and Wayne Ire started hosting another night in Port Talbot on Thursdays and Saturdays in CLUB 2000,which again in their hometown had its share of success. This carried on though till 1999 until the legendary "PURE ESSENCE" @ The Palace was born.The night was widely regarded as "one of the best outside London".This began another era for the formidable duo of Gary D and Wayne Ire as they played alongside Spoony, MJ Cole,Norris da boss Windross,Mike 'Ruffcut' Lloyd,Luck & Neat to name but a few.Not forgetting the residents, V2,Leo, Lloyd-e and Vikki Vengeance.Pretty soon Gary was contacted by "Funkin Marvellous @ The Emporium in Cardiff and was soon playing alongside Timmi Magic (Dreem Teem). Fast forward to 2002 and Gary was playing in Escape in Swansea with Krissy S,MC Mello D and Wayne Ire,which many believe was the foundation for the success of the Urban Room.Along with the Saturday nights He also played at Garage Nation events.Gary took a break from DJ'ing after the birth of his daughter in 2002,however he still kept in touch of what was happening in the UKG scene. In 2005 picked back up his headphones and secured a monthly residency with Love Life and Sundays @ The Bank, Port Talbot with House DJ's Chickin and Gar-F.This then led to him playing at the Local Heroes night @ Escape,Club Politics @ Crobar which in turn led him to getting a residency with Pure Urban Silk @ Crobar with Residents DJ Elmo,Metz and MC Dee and new residents DJ Sticky and MC's Major Ace and Dread. In June 2007 Gary joined forces with The Swansea Bassline Alliance and is now collaborating on projects with DJ's Kai, Greg P, Lloyd-e, Alistar, K-Lo and Kyle P.
